Do you have field trips or special events for Preschool?
We organize at least three field trips in one academic year. Parent / Guardian participation is a necessity. We plan the field trip locations based on the seasonal themes and learning opportunities that are occurring in the classroom setting and we utilize field or special events to enhance and extend the learning.
Special Events: There will be a monthly calendar posted on every class bulletin board. We try to incorporate all of the celebrations: Halloween, Diwali, Chanukah, Christmas, New Year, the Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day. We celebrate birthdays of each child. There may be opportunities for us to facilitate guest speakers throughout the year. This will depend on interest, resources and speaker availability. My child is not potty trained. Will this be an issue?
This is a part of growing up, we will take care.

Will you administer medication if needed?
Cold medications and antibiotics will not be administered at preschool/childcare. Please keep your child home if they require these medications.
Medications will only be administered when the required “Permission to Administer Medications” form has been completed and signed. This will be done in consultation with the Director or Supervisor. Medications that can be given in our care include prescriptions for serious medical conditions and allergies. This also includes Epipens and Benadryl for allergic reactions. The permission form will be kept with this medication in the locked medicine box.May I know the curriculum in the preschool program?
Your child will participate in a play-based program. Our planned activities offer learning experiences in the six key developmental areas (sensory, creative, dramatic, cognitive, book and floor toys/blocks). It is truly an adventure in learning in our preschool programs from role-playing, to science experiments, counting and workbooks. Your child will continue to build their self-esteem along with learning skills of cooperation, sharing and communication.
Are there any extra-curricular activities in the program?
We have thirty minutes music class every other week conducted by a teacher from Victoria Conservatory of Music.
Do you encourage parent involvement?
We do have an ‘open door’ policy at the preschool and childcare. This will enable you to spend time with your child and have fun. This will also allow you to support your child if they are not quite ready to separate. You are welcome to visit at any time. Some of you may find it necessary to spend the first few classes with your child. It is your choice as to when you feel your child is ready to make this step towards independence. Please do not hesitate to discuss any concerns you may have.
